Eleanor is our oldest resident at 10-12 years old. She is easily identified by her fluffy cream coat, her long torso, her sweet demeanor, and her shredded right ear and docked tail. Her ear shares a powerful truth about how most pigs have their ears notched when they are only babies, with no anesthetic.
Eleanor spent most of her life in a concrete cell, living in her feces and urine with nowhere soft to sleep and no protection from the sun. She had multiple litters of baby piglets who were all taken from her and sold to be eaten. She was finally discovered by a woman cleaning the house next door who noticed Eleanor was starving and in terrible condition. She was able to negotiate for Eleanor's release. Eleanor was then taken in by two kind older ladies with soft spots for animals. They were struggling to care for her and reached out to the sanctuary to take her in. Eleanor joined our sanctuary ohana on April 16, 2019.
This is Eleanor's shirt. Help us continue the conversation about the treatment of farmed animals, like Eleanor, by incorporating their stories into your daily life, through fashion.
