About the Event
The sanctuary is working on fencing one acre of pasture to create additional space for the animals to roam freely and happily during the day. In this volunteer day, we will be preparing the pasture for the fencing project, and need strong arms to help us unload the heavy fencing material once it arrives at the sanctuary! The rolls of fencing we will be unloading are each about 150lbs. For safety reasons, this volunteer day will be adults only! We will also be working on clearing the pasture area of any trash, as the sanctuary grounds were once used as an illegal dumping ground.
Another task we will be working on is moving the big pigs' wallow. The wallow is a mud lake the pigs enjoy for cooling off and ultimate relaxation. We are building a new pig barn that will be built where their current wallow is, so we need help to dig a new one for them. Pigs cannot sweat, so their wallows are very important for their wellbeing!
Please RSVP to this event if you are planning to be there! For the safety of both the sanctuary residents and your companion animals, please leave your animals at home. You MUST wear close-toed shoes. Pants are suggested. Be sure to bring your re-usable water bottle, filled, and other plant-based snacks. Thank you so much for volunteering, see you soon!
