Cora was once a member of our wild chicken flock at the Sanctuary. As a young hen, she developed an eye injury and was lovingly rehabilitated by our dedicated volunteer team. When Oogie Boogie—a Silkie rooster who had been abandoned at a local park alongside Jack and Sally, two Muscovy ducks—needed a companion, we knew Cora would be the perfect fit. Because of her sweet personality and compromised vision, she was welcomed as an official Sanctuary resident and paired with Oogie.
Cora is sweet, spunky, and full of personality. She and Oogie Boogie share a beautiful bond and are rarely far from one another. Cora loves taking dust baths, snuggling, and enjoying blueberries.
Today, Cora is safe, loved, and thriving at the Sanctuary. Together, she and Oogie Boogie inspire visitors by showing just how deep the bonds between chickens can be, reminding us all of the resilience, companionship, and joy these remarkable animals bring to one another.
