Fae is Ho’o and Daisy’s mom. She was rescued from a farm on the North Shore where sheep are routinely bred and sold for slaughter. Due to an abscess in her mouth that compromised her ability to chew, she became unable to care for Ho’o and Daisy, and that is when Aunty Iris stepped in. At first, the farm that surrendered them believed Iris was their mom, but upon arrival at the Sanctuary, we discovered that Iris had never given birth before!
At the Sanctuary, we believe mothers and their babies belong together, as very few farmed animals are ever given that chance. Babies are often taken away from their mothers to support dairy production, and we were determined to keep this little family together if at all possible. With veterinary care, patience, and plenty of tender loving care, Fae made a full recovery and no longer has any issues with her mouth. Today, she is healthy, thriving, and able to enjoy life alongside her babies.
