Felicio was adopted at only two weeks old along with his mama, Gaia, who has since passed away. Gaia was rescued from a severe neglect case, where the rope she was kept on became twisted around her leg, and was left like that for so long that her leg completely rotted off. She was in terrible condition at the time of her rescue, but made a full recovery thanks to the dedication of her rescuer, Claude. Eventually, the Sanctuary partnered with the Wizard of Paws to get Gaia her prosthetic leg!
Felicio and his mama, Gaia, lived together for many years, sharing a precious and unbreakable bond. On the day Gaia passed away, Ho’ola and Daisy were born at a nearby farm and needed rescuing. It felt like a sign from Gaia, gently asking us to open our sanctuary to a few more hoofed residents and give her son the companionship he deserves. Today, Felicío is thriving with his new herd, comprised of Ho’o, Daisy, Fae, and Iris.
