When Ho’o and Daisy’s real mom, Fae, was suffering from an abscess in her mouth and could no longer care for her babies, Aunty Iris lovingly stepped in to nurture them. The only challenge was that she had never given birth before and, as a result, was not producing milk. Iris selflessly allowed Ho’o and Daisy to suckle on her udders, but because she couldn’t meet their nutritional needs, they became very sick. Her loving and devoted care was so convincing that everyone believed she was their mother. When we brought her to the Sanctuary and discovered she wasn’t, we made the heartfelt decision to also adopt Fae so she could heal and live alongside her babies at the Sanctuary, where their family could finally be together.
