Lucy was once a member of our wild chicken flock at the Sanctuary. She was found with a broken leg and was lovingly rehabilitated by our dedicated team of volunteers. Although she made a full recovery, her veterinarian determined that she would always walk with a slight limp. To ensure she would always be safe and cared for, Lucy was welcomed as an official Sanctuary resident and became a companion for one of our special-needs roosters, Goober, who has since passed away.
Today, Lucy has fully embraced Sanctuary life and now lives with our resident hen flock alongside Puff and Flora, where her sweet yet confident personality shines! Though she had a difficult beginning, Lucy has never let it slow her down. Her resilience is an inspiring reminder of how, with compassion and a second chance, animals can truly thrive.
