Pono and Sunny were stray cats living in Waianae. They were fostered temporarily as kittens but the foster parent left the island abruptly and illegally released them outside. The people who owned the property that Sunny and Pono lived on wanted them gone and threatened to poison them.
Pono is very shy and was not friendly enough to be adopted into anyone’s home at that time. One of our volunteers advocated for Pono and Sunny to come to the sanctuary and they spent their days adventuring around and begging for pets together until Sunny passed in 2022.
